An accessory that I really like are socks. I must tell you that it has been an acquired taste over time, above all, learning to knit them.
In the year 2011 or 2012 maybe, I took a course to learn toe up sock knitting with Donna Druchunas, at that time, the queen of socks. I bought a skein of crazy zauberball from Schoppel Wolle and started knitting my first pair of socks. I knitted only one and I experienced the first sock syndrome, I never knitted the second one.
I didn’t knit socks again until I enrolled in a kal in 2016, where the idea was to learn to knit two socks together. I, who had only knitted 1 sock years before, threw myself into the most complicated socks on the planet: Lace Stockings by Faina Goberstein. I had them in my sights for too long and it seemed to me that this could be the ideal impulse to knit them... And I knitted them together! It took me about a month and I loved them. I think that was the moment when my sock knitting skills clicked and I never stopped knitting socks again.
I knitted two socks at the same time with magic loop for a long time, but it happened to me that my gauge began to loosen a lot, so to correct it I started knitting them one by one, also with magic loop. After a while, I lost the gauge again and I began to reduce the size of the needles, which helped me for a while. Now, I knit with short needles, which, although it costs me more to knit, help me maintain the correct gauge.
Today I introduce you Lucila's Socks that are inspired by one of the protagonists of the poem We were all going to be queens by Gabriela Mistral. These socks are the perfect complement to the Lucila sweater.
Playful and cute, these socks are worked from the toe up, seamless and with an afterthought heel.
For this sample I used Virginia Wool Fingering 100% N/S merino de Sisterhood Yarns. Some purists may tell me that non-superwash wools are not suitable for socks, I will always answer that I love socks with non-superwash wool... And in tastes... colors!
Enjoy a 20% discount with the code LUCILA at Ravelry if you want to get only the socks. If you already bought or is in your plans to buy Lucila sweater, enjoy a 50% discount in the socks (no coupon needed).
